Gulf News - More than 30,000 people are set to hear Bohra community leader Dr. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin deliver new year discourses in Dubai.
The leader was expected to arrive in the UAE today and will be given a reception at the Al Ahli Sports Club stadium. The discourses will begin from Saturday, the start of the Islamic New Year.
The series of talks will take place at the newly-constructed mosque, Masjid Al Burhani, at Ghusais. Dr Syedna will speak for four hours at a stretch each day over a 10-day period.
Community members are expected to arrive from various Gulf states to hear the spiritual leader.
The government has facilitated the influx by issuing special visas to visitors within 48 hours of their application to speed up the process.

Bohra leader addresses mammoth gathering
DUBAI- Khaleej Times - Dr Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin delivered a discourse at the annual 'Majaalis al Wa'az' being held at Al-Masjid Al-Burhani in Al Ghusais, Dubai. Approximately 40,000 Dawoodi Bohra Muslims - men, women and children from the US, Europe, East Africa, Middle East, the Gulf, Indian sub-continent, the Far East, Australia, and about 8,000 community members residing in the UAE - attended the discourse.
Dr Syedna Burhanuddin emphasised that Islam means peace and the message of Moharrum (the first month of the Muslim New Year) is the message of universal peace.
"I pray to Allah to bestow his choicest blessings and benedictions upon all Muslims, and may peace and harmony prevail amongst all humanity, and may Dubai and the UAE remain a land of peace, progress and prosperity" said Dr Syedna.
He urged his followers to remain committed to Islam and the Shariat, respect human values and work for the common welfare and well-being of fellow citizens.
Addressing the community members, Sultan ul Bohra asserted "Your presence in this Masjid is an expression of your love and affection for Allah. You have travelled thousands of miles to Dubai this year to participate in this 'Majaalis al Waaz’, which is a solemn and sacred occasion."
Received as a State Guest of the Government of Dubai, Dr Syedna expressed thanks and appreciation for the facilities and support provided by the government and the people of Dubai for the successful conduct of the nine-day 'Majaalis ul Waaz', which will conclude on March 1.
A large number of hotels all over Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi have been booked by Anjuman-e-Najmi, Dubai.
